A beautiful example of a mid-1930s Hamilton, open faced pocketwatch with a grade 917 movement, housed in a solid gold, Wadsworth case. Size 9S, external case dimension 1.75 in, 44.5mm. 17 jewel movement, adjusted to 3 positions, serial number X1338, dating it to 1936.
Geneva stripes on movement and gold jewel chatons. Very clean and running to within 15 sec a day. Three piece case is 14k, yellow gold. Case weight, without movment, 23g (0.8 oz).Engraved with a monogram on the back. Marked Wadsworth 14k solid gold on inside caseback and outer case edge.
Light hairlines externally, no significant dents or scratches. Some scratches to inner caseback, as shown. All hinges work smoothly and the casebacks engage in a positive fashion, with a good, flat fit. Engraved Hamilton watch co, and Lancaster, PA on innner face of caseback. Champagne dial with applied gilt/gold? Markers is in excellent condition. Some light discolouration around the outer minute track. I think this would clean easily.Gilt hands, slight discolouration at tip of minute hand. Subdial printing sharp, with contrasting dial finish. Overall, an excellent condition and elegant timepiece.
