Back of watch is inscribed NAVIGATION MASTER WATCH, TYPE AN-5740, H. A comparable watch was listed as SOLID SILVER SIGNED KEYSTONE CO. 800 FINE inside the case - I don't know if this one is silver or not and I have not had the case open, but it is non-magnetic. Feels very solid and high quality, has no evidence of tarnish.

The darkish picture of the back is not tarnish - I had to reduce light to avoid glare so you could read all the text. The other picture of the back shows exact coloring.

DIAL: BLACK WITH Bright White COLOR MARKS, MILITARY STYLE, 24 HOURS, ARABIC NUMERALS (EXCELLENT CONDITION) SIGNED G. HANDS: THREE, Bright White COLOR, RAILROAD STYLE (EXCELLENT NEAR MINT CONDITION).

I don't know anything about watches - from research I have learned that this watch has 4992B inscribed inside the case I have not opened the back on this one but one with the same exact reverse side inscription had it. It also likely says inside the case ADJ. Not sure if used by Army, Navy or Air Force Corps. Railroad Grade Movement for Navigation.

Only 140K of these watches were made between 1941 and 1969. AND 6 POSITIONS, STOP OPTION. DIAMETER: Approx 2 1/16 51 MM?

THICKNESS: Approx 1/2 to 5/8. TOTAL WEIGHT: Similar watches weighed 110 GRAM. I have not weighed this one on a precise scale - weighs between 3-4 oz. A fine timepiece for your collection.

The face and hands are especially well preserved - restore this one or use it for parts to restore others.. Face and hands are in excellent condition. Case is good with some surface scratches on the back. Have not had it looked at so I don't know why it doesn't run.

If you lift the pin, you can set the time and move the hands around. You can wind it but it doesn't run. Crystal needs to be replaced - scratched and cracked.
