Hamilton Official Standard 17j 16s Rare Marking Railroad Pocket Watch

  

16 size 17 jewel open face lever-set Grade 972 pocket watch with "Official Standard" marked movement. A rare railroad associated marking, "Official Standard" marked movements were made in small numbers in Grade 936 and Grade 972 versions for the Smith Patterson Company of Boston, Massachusetts. Watch is fronted by a double-sunk enamel dial with script "Hamilton" signature and is housed in a nickel display case which is marked "Hamilton" to its front bezel only.

Running and a very nice looking movement with good color and luster. Dial has some scattered hairlines and nicks to its outer chapter. Case has some prominent scratches and marring from rough past openings and has some areas of dark tarnish.
