This is a scarce Hamilton grade 961. There was a total production of 2,410 of these made. This watch is 16 size, stem wind and set, 21 jewels, adjusted, serial #81684 (Circa 1906).
The watch is running strong. It seems to be keeping decent time but I have not had it cleaned or serviced. So I cannot guarantee it to be a reliable timekeeper. According to the Pocket Watch Database, this movement is considered railroad grade. The hunting case is yellow gold filled, "WARRANTED CRESCENT 20 YEARS". The case is plain on both lids. The lids are not brassed, and there are no monograms. The case has no other screw marks, so I believe this is the ORIGINAL CASE! The lift spring is weak and I would suggest replacing it.The lock spring is good. The porcelain dial is double sunk. The dial has some fine hairlines on the outer ring. As of now, the watch has no crystal. A difficult watch to obtain with the original case!
