Hamilton 993 Extra 21j 16s Very Rare Fancy 2-tone Railroad Pocket Watch

  
16 size 21 jewel hunting case lever-set Grade 993 "Extra" pocket watch. The 993 Extra is very rare, and features a beautiful movement with spectacular 2-tone gold and nickel damaskeen finish and with "Extra" marked to its train bridge. Watch is fronted by a double-sunk enamel dial with script "Hamilton" signature and Roman numerals, and watch is housed in a 25 year gold-filled Crescent Watch Case Co. Hunting case with engine turned finish. Movement serial number is 367567. Running and a nice looking movement with good 2-tone color though with some scratches at the perimeter of its barrel bridge in the space between the serial number and the larger winding wheel.

Regulator spring has some oxide. Dial faces up well though with light outer chapter hairlines at 30 and 38 minutes, some tiny surface nicks near the 4 minute position, and some wispy haze to the dial's glaze evident in reflected light.

Case has a good overall look showing mild wear with some loss to its engine turning detail, some typical mild dings and nicks to its band, a small notch filed to the inner lip of its front lid, and with the front lid opening somewhat wide of 90 degrees to approximately 105 degrees. Inner surface of case front is through entirely to underlying brass, and case crown has a spot at its top where the stem is starting to protrude with a somewhat sharp edge.
