Hamilton 951 23 Jewel Extremely Rare Hunting Case 14k Gold Pocket Watch
16 size 23 jewel hunting case pendant-set Grade 951 pocket watch. A beautiful example of this exceedingly rare top grade watch, the total production of this pendant-set version of the Grade 951 was only 44 made. This example is housed in a spectacular 14K gold Keystone Watch Case Co. Hunting case with ornate engraving detail in superb crisp condition.
Watch is fronted by a double-sunk enamel dial with stylish Breguet style hour numerals and a block lettered "Hamilton" signature. Movement is a top grade bridge model with gold jewel settings, gold train wheels, gold balance screws, and a "951" marking to its barrel bridge. Gross weight of complete watch is 64.8 dwt (100.9 grams).
Running and a very nice looking movement with only some typical mild surface marks to the plates and some mild oxide to the steelwork. Dial faces up beautifully with just a few very faint hairlines in its outer chapter. Case is superb with exceptional crisp engraving detail. Case cuvette has a presentation inscription and cuvette tips open/closed freely about its hinge with gravity when opened.
