Hamilton 992 21 Jewel Railroad Pocket Watch. This Hamilton railroad watch is 16 size (case diameter 50 mm).
The movement is marked 992, with 21 jewels, gold jewel settings, gold center wheel, and is marked "Adjusted 5 Positions" as required for railroad service. This is a fairly late model 992 made in about 1926. The movement condition is very nice with a few very minor scratches. This watch is in a super sharp bulldog style railroad case. The case is rolled gold plate and has NO brass and virutally no signs of wear. This could be an original case, although my gut feeling is this case is a little younger, maybe from the 1930s or possibly even the 1950s. Not all 992s made in the mid 1920s were cased in Hamilton cases. The original, double sunk dial is porcelain and has bold hands and oversized numerals correct for the time period.
The dial has NO chips, and NO hairlines. This watch runs and keeps reasonable time, but I do not know the history of this watch, so it may need to be serviced.
