Superb Hamilton antique pocket watch, Circa. 1900 to 1902 (marked inside as 6 25 02). Railroad grade 970, known to collectors as Model 1--damaskeen pattern is simply gorgeous.

Often overlooked by collectors who look for more popular (and less rare) models such as the 944 or 992--this very rare high grade watch was limited to 2810 movements across all models, and this particular model (Model 1) appears to be limited to only 200. This will be an important addition to your collection, or a stand-alone showpiece for you to enjoy for years to come. 14 Karat, solid gold--pretty heavy, the watch weighs 3.7 oz. - light scratches on the outside and inside of the gold case--no dents or gouges--watch opens and closes as it should--not too loose or too tight. 16 size--the watch measures almost exactly 2 in diameter.

21 jewels--sapphires and rubies--solid gold parts inside. Absolutely Railroad grade certified for its time, although by 1908 it would not have been.

But in 1902 it was the correct size, had 5 positions, adjusted for temperature, double roller, and 21 jewels, etc. Glass over dial is in gorgeous condition--I could not see one scrape or scratch--perfectly clear with no cloudiness. And the dial itself has no discoloration or flaws at all--typical 60 black dashes, with red numbers every five minutes. Easy to wind--and it does work--at least as far as I could tell with the limited amount of testing I did.

I did not thoroughly test it and run it through more than a quick wind-the-dial and see if it works--and as far as I could see, it seemed to work great. I wound the dial four times, and it ran for eight hours and kept the correct time to within a minute. But I did not attempt to set it to the correct time or to wind it fully. I do feel that although it is VERY clean inside, you should be prepared to have it serviced or at least cleaned and checked over just to be on the safe side.
