HAMILTON 16 SIZE 17J 14K GOLD HUNTING CASE POCKET WATCH withRARE 2-TONE DAMASKEEN

  

16 size 17 jewel hunting case pendant-set Grade 975 pocket watch with extremely rare 2-tone damaskeen pattern and with a beautiful 14K gold hunting case. Movement is private label signed "Made Especially for John Brenner by the Hamilton Watch Co" and features a 2-tone damaskeen with diagonal gold bars that are inset with intertwined wavy nickel ribbons. This is the only example of this damaskeen that I've seen and it's one of the most visually spectacular patterns I've seen among Hamilton production. Dial is double-sunk enamel and is marked Brenner. Case is 14K gold made by American Watch Case Co.

Of Toronto and features beautiful fancy engraving to front and rear. Front shield is engraved with an initial. Movement serial number is 301207. Gross weight of the complete watch is 65.7 dwt (102.1 g). Running but needed a twist to start and balance motion is sluggish, I think likely this movement has not seen a servicing in quite some time.

Movement is absolutely beautiful cosmetically with superb 2-tone color and luster. Larger winding wheel has a small oxide spot. Dial has faint outer chapter hairlines at 39 minutes and 50 minutes.

Case is beautiful with superb crisp engraving detail, and case has only a very small nick to its band at the 8 O'clock position with no dents or dings. Cuvette surface has a rippled appearance to its reflection indicating a likely polished removal of a previous engraving.
