Excellent Serviced 1954 Ball-hamilton 999b, 16s, 21j, 6p+temp R. R. Pocket Watch

  
For your consideration is this outstanding 1954 Ball-Hamilton 999B, 16S, 21J, 6P, + Temp Railroad Pocket Watch from my collection of Antique, and Railroad Pocket Watches. Ball-Hamilton Pocket Watches were the Official Standard of the Railroad Industry which other manufacturers aspired to. Hamilton produced his best movements. The 999B was very accurate, and reliable as all their railroad movements were. Even though Webb Ball never produced his own movement, he was very instrumental by improving railroad safety by instituting much stricter time keeping accuracy standards, and requiring regular servicing of railroad men's timepieces.

This serviced 999B is lever set, and pendant wind. It has gold jewel settings, and 21 jewels. It is adjusted to 6 positions, plus temperature. I have timed it for 3 days in various positions.

It not only runs, it keeps excellent time! The beautiful circular damasceened nickle movement is bright and shiny. It sets time, and winds easily just as it should. There can't be too many of these wonderful 64 year old Ball-Hamilton 999B Official Standard Railroad Pocket Watches still in existence in this condition today. The Ball Official RR Standard Cleveland Single Sunk Melamine Dial is without any issues. There is no fading, discoloration, chips, or hairlines. I don't believe Ball ever used a double sunk dial. All 3 correct hands are also without any issues. They are shiny, and rust and corrosion free. The Ball Official RR Standard Keystone J Boss 10 KGF case is excellent. This gleaming, 20 year gold filled case shows only very fine scratches largely unseen with the naked eye, and 2 or 3 slightly deeper short scratches. There is no brassing I can see. Both the front bezel, and rear cover screw on and off easily as they should. The crown shows little to no wear. The bow is tight, and shows little to no wear. The crystal is clear, crack, and chip free. I strive to be completely accurate to the best of my knowledge in all my listings via text, and multiple clear pictures. I would not want the new owner to receive any unpleasant surprises.

I would not want that to happen to me. I have been a collector for over 30 years, actually, closer to 40 years. , and this is one of the finest Ball-Hamiltons I have owned.

Please see all 12 pictures to determine for yourself the condition of this 64 year old fine piece of American Timekeeping History. I believe this Ball-Hamilton is all original.
