Ball's Standard Railroad Watch Co. Ball Hamilton 18 size 17 jewel open face lever-set signed Ball's Standard, Railroad Watch Co. On the dial and movement. Rare early watch made that is the higher grade of the two Railroad Watch Co. Marked variants, total production of this version is only 300 made.

This example is notable for its excellent original double-sunk enamel dial, for some reason examples of this watch with decent condition dials seem particularly hard to find as most I've encountered have had pretty notable dial problems. Watch is housed in a 20 year gold-filled Fahys Montauk case that appears to be possibly its original showing no sign of having held another movement. Movement serial number is 20539. Running and a nice looking movement with good color and luster. Surfaces have some scattered marks with the most visible of these being around the lower casescrew area and on the balance cock foot.

Dial has a few faint outer chapter hairlines but faces up beautifully, far better than the usual for examples of this watch I've seen. Case is decent looking but has some wear to brass on the lower part of its band, in thin strips around parts of the band seams, and on its bow. Glass crystal has a mild edge flake at its upper right.
