Nice and shiny, all the lettering and highlights are intact. No corrosion or dirt, all the hardware is there including dial screws, case screws and the dust band. It came out of storage with a blown main spring which has been replaced. A couple of twists and it took right off running.
It has not been serviced or tested for accuracy. It appears to be running true and flat but weak and a bit sluggish. It is due for a cleaning and new oil, it has a new mainspring. The Hamilton records indicate that a total of 1100 of the 961L's were originally made, but 97 were pulled from stock and remanufactured into the very rare grade 951.So the more accurate total production number of the grade 961L is closer to 1,000 movements, that was before the first world war. How many of these very rare movement can be left?
