This watch model was one way that Hamilton got civilian watches back on the market after the end of WWII. The Wadsworth Watch Case Co.
Produced bezels and backs made from old Bunn Special model 1 dies, made from a base metal (stainless steel), and matching them to already existing model 2 case centers. The cases were advertised as model 3 (as it resembled the still available model 2) in the 1946-7 retailer catalogs although there was an earlier model 3 992 watch in the 1920s. This model was discontinued after one year. It's still a good looking unique case. The example here is in good running order and keeping time to within a couple of minutes a day.
