18 size 17 jewel open face lever-set Official B of LF Standard (Brotherhood of Locomotive Firemen). Very desirable Ball-Hamilton brotherhood marked watch with a sunk-seconds enamel dial features the brotherhood letters in eye-catching red, silver, and green colors.Watch is housed in a 25 year gold-filled Keystone J. Movement serial number is 458681. Ticking somewhat sluggishly as it winds down and I think likely would benefit from a cleaning and oiling. Very nice looking movement with good color and luster.
Dial is beautiful with just some mild edge flaking under the bezel between 12 and 1 O'clock, a few tiny nicks to the rim of the seconds-bit hole, and a few fine glaze scratches which are close to negligible. Case is evenly worn with loss to most of its engraving detail on the rear, some shallow dents or dings to rear, and case cuvette has wear through to brass at its upper right near where it opens. Please check out my other items this week for more great watches and watch related items for sale.
- Check out the NAWCC! The NAWCC (National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors) is a group that has a 65 year history, a terrific online message board for collectors, and the NAWCC puts on many watch and clock shows across the United States every year. I've been an NAWCC member since 1991 and recommend it to every collector of watches or clocks.
