Ball Hamilton 18 Size 21 Jewel 999b Official Railroad Standard Pocket Watch

Movement is a Ball-Hamilton (made by Hamilton for Ball) model 999B. 18 size watch, 21 jewels. Running strong and keeping time. Glass crystal with beveled edge has a light scratch or two. Case has typical brassing here and there. Case diameter is 55.2 mm without pendant and bow i. Movement serial number is 118178 dating it to 1900. Movement has an interesting wavy style damaskeening pattern. Dial is marked "Ball's Standard Dial Pat Apld For" on the edge near the seconds register. When I say it's keeping time.... I wound it and let it run for 24 hours or more, mostly face up, but I did make sure it was face down for shorter periods also. I did a rough setting of time, probably within a minute or two, and let it run for 24 hours and it was still within a minute or two. This was rough testing and they were not set to the exact second, so it may be off by 2 seconds a day, maybe 2 minutes a day. All of these pocket watches are in the state I found them. I did not make any effort to lubricate, clean the dial/crystal, polish case, or anything similar. You might see specks of dirt on the dial or crystal. Some have tiny dings or scratches or tiny chips on the crystal. Please rely on the photos to assess the overall condition. I just recently acquired these 2 days ago and I do not know any service history. That being said, any watch may have possible been lubricated a week ago, or may have never been serviced at all.

I simply do not know any history. All cases close properly unless stated otherwise, meaning the covers screw on or snap on well, front covers of hunter case watches close and spring open as they should, etc.

Gold filled cases may have minor spots of brassing. I will be glad to answer.
